Deal Starters: An entrepreneur with the ability to lead and inspire.
Definition of the business in the customers’ terms.
Non-starters: Mixing up the first and second laws of thermodynamics. This is very bad form for an energy entrepreneur, and surprisingly common.
The three most expensive words in the English language: “It’s only software.”
Outside Activities: Aviation, craftsmanship

Maurice Gunderson is perfectly cast for his job as a Senior Partner in the Energy and Materials Division. He has a life-long passion for anything with moving parts, especially engines. “I wasn’t born with a wrench in my hand, which would have been biologically difficult, but I did understand how an engine works before I could read,” Gunderson confessed. Some of his earliest memories are of working on engines, which then progressed to modifying and then designing and engineering everything from high-speed Diesel engines to solar Rankine power generators.. “Practicing venture capital in the energy sector is the opportunity of a lifetime.  The forces of comsumer demand and political will have converged to re-define energy markets for the future..,” he said. Maurice’s focus area is thermodynamics and energy technologies. Throughout Maurice's career, he has been instrumental in developing cryogenic equipment, engines and energy conversion systems, turbo-machinery, and control systems for process plants and pipelines. Prior to joining CMEA, Maurice co-founded Nth Power, a venture capital firm specializing in investments emerging from the global restructuring of the energy industry. Prior to founding Nth Power, Maurice spent more than 20 years developing energy products and launched five successful companies.
